Winston-Salem Open: Andy Murray beats fortunate failure Noah Rubin after Nick Kyrgios pulls out
England's Andy Murray crushed American fortunate washout Noah Rubin in the Winston-Salem Open initially round after planned rival Nick Kyrgios pulled out.
Previous world number one Murray, 34, beat Rubin 6-2 6-0 and secured triumph by dominating 10 progressive matches.
The three-time Grand Slam champion was because of face Australia's Kyrgios, who pulled out on account of a knee injury.
Murray, who is set to contend at the US Open from 30 August, will confront American Frances Tiafoe next in North Carolina.

"I couldn't say whether I planned to play around evening time. They said on the off chance that I was playing against a qualifier, I wouldn't play and afterward I drew a fortunate failure. It was interesting," said Murray.
"It was clearly hard for 45 minutes and afterward the two or three games since you've gone over a system with your mentor about the match you will play and afterward clearly that changes," he added.
The Scot, at present positioned 114th, was beaten in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters last week - losing in straight sets to 10th seed Hubert Hurkacz following triumph over Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
That was his first competition since pulling out of the Olympic singles in Tokyo with a minor thigh strain.
